Our Story
Hi, I’m Claire, Founder of That Health Hub
I want to empower women with Skills, Support, and Solutions to live their lives without limitations. Through Psychotherapy, Clinical Hypnotherapy and Coaching, we help you create Lasting Positive Progress in your Life.
Origin Story
For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to help people. I felt a magnetic pull towards those in struggle and often advocated for the needs of others. A harrowing but pivotal early memory was…
…that of a camping trip away with family where my cousins and I were playing in a tidal river next to our campsite. For the most part, the river was shallow, and our parents were gathered nearby on the sand. As we lost track of time playing, we had ventured further up the river to an area that we didn’t realise had strong currents underneath the surface, and was very deep. Suddenly, my younger cousin was being dragged underneath the water and whilst we didn’t really understand at the time, she began to drown. My older cousins and sibling were also there trying to help. Before I realised, I had instinctively jumped right in after her trying to save her. The currents proved too difficult for us, and we both began to struggle, heads under the water, scrambling desperately to get to the surface. Thankfully a nearby gentleman on the beach had seen what had transpired and quickly leapt to action saving us both that day from an unimaginable fate. In hindsight, it was dangerous jumping in after her, but all I knew was that I had to help.
A Core Memory
A significant childhood experience that shaped my world was my Mum being in a car accident at work which left her with a significant neck injury. Another driver fell asleep at the wheel which instantaneously changed the course of my family’s life. I unconsciously assumed the role of caregiver. I’ll never forget seeing my role model in agony, bed bound for days at a time with debilitating nerve pain which rendered her helpless. I fetched ice cold face washers, rinsed out sick buckets and helped around the house in any way I could. An experience like this changes you, within the fibres of who you are. Momentarily, I was somehow able to reduce her suffering and I saw value in being able to do this for my loved one.
School Years
I recall during my high school years being drawn to stand up for and protect ‘the underdog’ or perhaps those who found it more difficult to fit in. I often called other people out for their unkind behaviour and seemed to float easily between the different groups and clicks. My recollection is that my friends seemed to accept it when I wanted to do something different or didn’t bow to peer pressure. As an adult, a school friend recently reminisced that she recalled me to be so sure of who I was and what I wanted to do, even as a teenager. I definitely didn’t think of it that way as a teen but there was a yearning, let’s call it a gut instinct or strong pull towards helping and supporting people.
Professional Life
As I grew older, I was drawn to Health, perhaps positively influenced by my Mum who served as a psychiatric nurse for 40 years in public health. I did work experience at school in several different allied health contexts but quickly realised that Speech Pathology was the road for me. Perhaps it was my interest in communication coupled with my innate desire to help people, but I decided this was the path forward. I spent 5 years at university studying Health Science majoring in Speech Pathology and 10 years in the acute hospital environment where I learned and experienced a lot. Over this time, I also learned plenty about myself; who I was, what I stood for and why I was here on this earth. As time passed, I grew more and more frustrated with the inefficiencies and constraints within the public health system. With limited time and resources along with constant pressure to move people through the system, I witnessed an emerging trend of treating the symptoms without getting to the root cause of the problem. I struggled to reconcile with this approach, and eventually my learning and growth began to stagnate.
Changing Direction
During the global Coronavirus Pandemic, I took a pause from Speech Pathology as an opportunity arose in Leadership in Private Business. It was one of the biggest learning curves of my life and I loved it! I was challenged every single day and my growth was exponential. It was during this era of my career that I discovered my passion and flair for problem solving. Finding solutions, ensuring we solved the right problem and getting to the root cause of a problem was both fascinating and not surprisingly, effective. Fast forward 4 years in the business world and the yearning to help people and the pull towards health was growing by the day. By now, I was also 8 years into a full-scale personal mission into Self-awareness and Development. My journey into Motherhood was a catalyst for significant reflection and self-discovery. My duty as a role model became abundantly clear and I was on a journey to be the best damn version of myself that I could be for me and the little people in my care, watching my every move. Whilst I was hopeful that my new learning and insights could positively influence my team, I also learned that despite my best efforts to support them to achieve their goals, there was always something that got in the way: their mindset and a significant skills gap.
The Pivot Point
It was in the wake of a global health crisis and growing mental health epidemic, that a serious gap in the market was evident, and an idea was created. All around me, people were in struggle. And this struggle was growing by the day. People were confused, especially when it came to their health, heck I was confused too sometimes. Everywhere you looked, there were mixed messages on the best way to stay healthy; socially, emotionally, physically and mentally. People all around me were making serious and irreversible health decisions based on symptoms and a surface level understanding of the problem. Nobody appeared to consider or care to get to the root cause of the problem with a view to long-term health and well-being. Worst of all, the health system today, perpetuated this exact cycle. The conversation around Health, particularly mental health, needed to change. I realised that whilst you can be physically healthy, if someone was struggling with their mental health or mindset, their quality of life was really impacted. I have witnessed first-hand an enormous amount of potential going to waste because of poor mental health. I wanted to create a safe space where people could access the knowledge, skills and support they needed to make informed, holistic and solution-focused health decisions. With a particular passion for supporting, empowering and advocating for women, coupled with my intrinsic interest in health, the That Health Hub voyage began.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can Therapy Help me?
Yes, therapy can help you. Therapy provides a safe space to talk about your feelings, challenges, and goals with a trained professional. Whether you’re dealing with stress, anxiety, issues at work, or just need guidance, Psychotherapy can offer support and practical strategies to improve your well-being. Psychotherapy can help you understand your thoughts and behaviours better and can lead to positive changes in your life. If you’re ready for change, open to exploring your issues and working on solutions, therapy can be a valuable tool for feeling better and achieving your goals.
What sort of Therapy do you offer?
We offer a range of therapies tailored to your needs, including Strategic Coaching, which helps you achieve specific goals through actionable strategies; Gordian Psychotherapy, designed to quickly address and resolve complex psychological issues; and Clinical Hypnotherapy, which uses guided hypnosis to reframe negative thoughts and promote positive behavioural changes. Whether you choose Psychotherapy, Coaching or Hypnotherapy, each therapy is crafted to support your journey toward personal growth and mental well-being.
How many Sessions will I need?
The number of Gordian psychotherapy sessions a client might need can vary based on their individual goals and challenges. Generally, strategic therapy is designed to be focused and goal-oriented, so you might see progress in a relatively short number of sessions.
Typically, clients might start with 4 to 10 sessions, but this can differ depending on how complex the issues are and how quickly you make progress. In each session, you and your Psychotherapist will work together to identify your specific goals, develop a plan of action, and tackle any obstacles you’re facing.
As you work through these sessions, you’ll refine your strategies and adjust the plan as needed. Your therapist will help you stay on track and measure your progress. Some clients may need fewer sessions if they quickly achieve their goals, while others might require more time for deeper or more complex issues. The focus is on finding effective solutions efficiently, so the number of sessions is tailored to your individual needs and progress.
How can I schedule a session?
To schedule a session, the most convenient option is to Book Online. You’ll find “Book Online” buttons on all pages of our website. Clicking one will guide you through a simple, step-by-step process to select your preferred date and time for an appointment. The process has been designed to be quick and easy for you.
If you’re unsure about which service is right for you or if you have any specific questions, we offer a free 15-minute Discovery Call. During this call, our team will provide personalised assistance, help you understand your options, and address any questions you might have. This is a great opportunity to get the information you need before booking a session.
What is Strategic Coaching
Strategic coaching is a focused approach to helping women achieve their personal and professional goals. It’s all about identifying a clear purpose and creating practical steps to reach it. Unlike general coaching, which might cover a wide range of personal growth topics, strategic coaching zooms in on specific challenges, like moving up in your career, growing a business, or improving aspects of your personal life.
During the coaching process, we work closely with you to understand where you are now, clarify what you want to achieve, and develop a personalised plan to get there. Coaches offer guidance, support, and accountability, making sure you stay on track and tackle any obstacles that come your way. The goal is to help you make smart decisions, use your strengths, and see real, measurable progress.
Strategic coaching is especially beneficial for people looking to boost your performance, manage life transitions, or address specific challenges in a focused and effective way.
What is Gordian Psychotherapy
Gordian Psychotherapy is a type of psychotherapy that aims to quickly get to the heart of complex emotional or mental issues. Named after the Gordian Knot, the idea of solving a complicated problem with a simple, direct solution, this approach focuses on helping you identify and resolve the core issues that are causing you distress.
Instead of spending a long time in psychotherapy, the goal is to provide you with clear insights and effective solutions that lead to real progress in a shorter amount of time. This method of psychotherapy is especially helpful if you’re facing tough emotional challenges or long-standing problems that have been difficult to overcome.
What is Clinical Hypnotherapy?
Clinical hypnotherapy, is a method that helps people make positive changes by guiding them into a deeply relaxed state, similar to being in a trance. In this state, your mind becomes more open to suggestions, making it easier to address issues like anxiety, quitting smoking, managing burnout, or overcoming fears and phobias.
During a session, the trained Hypnotherapist helps you relax and focus, allowing you to more effectively explore and alter certain thoughts or behaviours that are no longer serving you. Even though you’re in a relaxed state, you’re still in full control. You can choose what information you want to take on board and what information is not relevant or helpful to you. Clinical hypnosis works by tapping into the subconscious part of your mind, where many of our habits and emotions are stored, helping you make lasting changes in your life.
Can Anyone be Hypnotised?
Most people can experience the benefits of Clinical Hypnotherapy, but the ease and effectiveness can vary from person to person. Generally, people who are open to the process and able to focus their attention are more likely to experience better results. Factors such as willingness to engage in the process, the therapeutic relationship between client and clinician, and ability to relax play a role in how well someone responds to hypnosis.
However, clinical hypnotherapy might not be effective or appropriate for everyone, especially if there are certain mental health diagnoses or if the person is highly resistant to the process. Qualified and Experienced hypnotherapists will assess your suitability for hypnosis and tailor the approach to your needs.
Is Clinical Hypnotherapy Safe?
Yes, clinical hypnotherapy is safe when carried out by a trained and qualified professional. It’s a non-invasive method that helps you relax into a state of focused attention allowing you to work on various psychological issues.
During a session, you remain in full control and can stop or come out of the relaxed state whenever you choose. There are no physical risks involved since hypnotherapy does not use medications or physical procedures.
Clinical Hypnotherapy is designed to help with emotional and psychological concerns, but it’s important to let your hypnotherapist know about any diagnosed mental health conditions you might have so they can adjust their approach as needed. Reputable hypnotherapists follow ethical guidelines and avoid making unrealistic promises, ensuring a safe experience for you.
How much does Hypnotherapy Cost?
The cost of clinical hypnotherapy can vary depending on several factors, including the location, the therapist’s experience and availability, and the length of the session. Some therapists offer sliding scale fees or package deals where multiple sessions are required.
It’s a good idea to check with the specific hypnotherapist for their rates and whether they offer any bundles or packages. Additionally, check if your private health insurance covers hypnotherapy. Please see our Packages and Pricing page for information about our Services and Pricing.
Are your Therapists Qualified?
Yes, our coaches and therapists are qualified professionals. They have completed extensive training and education in their field, which includes earning degrees, certifications, and licenses. This training ensures they have the skills and knowledge needed to provide effective therapy focused on Women’s Health.
In addition to their formal education, our therapists stay up-to-date with the latest practices and guidelines in therapy. They also adhere to ethical standards and professional guidelines, which means they provide support that’s both safe and effective.
You can trust that our team have the qualifications and experience to help you with your concerns and work towards your goals.
Can I do Therapy Online?
Yes, you can do therapy online including Hypnotherapy. It’s a convenient option that lets you have therapy sessions from home or anywhere you have a private space and internet connection. Instead of meeting in person, you and your therapist will connect through video calls, and phone calls.
Online therapy works just like in-person sessions, allowing you to talk about your concerns, experience Hypnosis and work on your goals with your therapist. It’s a flexible and accessible way to get the support you need, especially if you have a busy schedule or live far from our therapy space.
